Overview

YouTube AI Assistant is a Chrome extension that lets you ask AI questions about YouTube videos. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.

Data We Access

• YouTube Video ID — extracted from the URL of the video you are watching, used to fetch the transcript and comments for that video.
• Your Questions — the text you type in the chat panel is sent to our backend server to generate AI responses.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No personal information (name, email, address)
• No browsing history
• No cookies or tracking
• No YouTube account information
• No analytics or usage tracking

How Data Is Processed

When you ask a question, the video ID and your question are sent to our backend server. The server fetches the video transcript and comments via SerpAPI, then sends them to the Claude AI API (by Anthropic) to generate an answer. No data is stored permanently — transcript and comment data is cached temporarily in server memory and automatically expires.

Data Retention

No user data is permanently stored. Transcript and comment data is cached in server memory for up to 2 hours to improve performance, then automatically deleted.
